Comprehensive fertility care that honors every body's experience

Coyote Midwifery is deeply rooted in the fierce belief that every person deserves autonomy and respect. Our care is designed to meet the needs of those often left out of society’s dominant narrative. If you have ever felt excluded or othered, particularly by healthcare providers, we see you, and we are here for you.

Navigating the fertility world is a lot.

Especially if you don't fit neatly into a young-thin-cis-hetero-monogamous-bullshit box.

You shouldn’t have to do it alone.

We are here to offer support long before a positive pregnancy test. Whether you're looking for more information about available conception options, fertility awareness and ovulation timing, or you are ready to begin insemination (IUI or ICI), our midwifery care will always be tailored to your individual needs.

FAQs

  • We operate from an assumption of fertility. We find that most people who are empowered in their family choice, informed about their body’s fertility, and are planning well-timed inseminations or intercourse will become pregnant within 6-12 months. We begin our care with the lowest intervention that feels right to you. We are able to provide safe, non-medicalized care that helps promote your comfort and cultivate trust in your body. The medical model of fertility, which comes from an assumption of infertility, does not meet the needs of individuals. This model of care generally starts with the most intervention and screening processes before reducing based on findings.

  • Generally, insurance does not cover fertility care unless a client can show they have received at least 6 months of fertility service. This varies between insurance companies, so it will be important for you to call your insurance company for more information. We are happy to provide you with any necessary documentation for reimbursement from your insurance company.

  • Intracervical insemination (ICI) involves placing sperm at or inside the cervix using a needleless syringe. Both washed sperm (sperm separate from semen) and fresh sperm can be used in this process. Intrauterine insemination (IUI) involves placing washed sperm into the uterus. This process involves a speculum to visualize the cervix to insert a small catheter through the cervix and into the uterus. In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a highly medicalized procedure that involves combining an egg and sperm outside of the body. The resulting embryo is placed inside the uterus. This procedure is not available through Coyote.

Whether you choose intrauterine insemination (IUI) or intracervical insemination (ICI), these simple procedures may be provided in the comfort and privacy of your home. After placing washed sperm into your uterus (IUI) or fresh sperm near the cervix (ICI), we will leave you to quietly set an intention before you jump back into the activities of the day.

  • You can! The procedure is made up of very simple techniques that can be learned by anyone with a desire to do it on their own. We love offering education on how to inseminate at home using either the intracervical (ICI) method or the intrauterine (IUI) method. To find out if this might be the right choice for you, come on in for a fertility consult!

  • Great question! Ovulation is a little unpredictable. We offer insemination services seven days a week and want to make sure we are ready when you call. In order to ensure our availability, we charge an on-call fee that covers your estimated ovulation window. This fee is non-refundable and must be paid at the start of each cycle. Detailed instructions for booking this window are included in your Welcome program.

  • First, we see you. As providers (and as humans) we strive to practice trauma-informed care. Trauma-informed care recognizes that people often have many different types of trauma in their lives, and these traumas have an impact on physical, emotional, and mental health.

With SOM, you are in control of your body and your story. If you have experienced trauma, it is entirely up to you whether you discuss it with us. Trauma affects everyone differently—particularly as it relates to your body—and the necessity to respond and process will be individual to you.

Our fertility care is a partnership between you, your chosen family, and your midwives, and you are in charge every step of the way. We want to make sure that you feel physically and emotionally safe. When it comes time for your insemination, you'll direct. We will hold space for you to let us know how we can help make the experience feel empowering and magical.
